Clinet 2018

Clinet 2018

Château Clinet 2018 is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, matured for 16 months in French oak barriques (75% new). A benchmark example from Pomerol, this wine is powerful, deeply structured and built for the long haul.

The bouquet opens gradually with time in the glass, revealing layers of dark plum, mulberry and black cherry compote, intertwined with hints of truffle, damp earth, tobacco leaf, chargrill and cedar. On the palate, it’s rich and full-bodied with a core of dense black fruit framed by firm, grainy tannins and vibrant freshness. The finish is long, persistent and complex, promising exceptional development in the cellar.

This is a wine for the patient collector. Best enjoyed after extended cellaring, with an ideal drinking window from 2026 to 2056.

“The 2018 Clinet is a full-on volcano of black fruit and molten rock waiting to erupt, with a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing with amazing length. There is a lot going on here, but it is a wine for the patient. Give it a good 5–7 years in bottle, at least, and drink it over the next 30+ years.”
