Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2020

Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Paje 2020

Founded in 1958, Produttori del Barbaresco is a cooperative made up of 51 growers who collectively manage over 100 hectares of prime Nebbiolo vineyards within the Barbaresco DOCG. Each member maintains full control of their land, continuing a long tradition of cultivating Nebbiolo with deep-rooted expertise.

In outstanding vintages, the estate releases nine single-vineyard Barbarescos from some of the region’s most renowned crus: Asili, Rabajà, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Pajè, Montefico, Muncagota, and Rio Sordo. These historic sites have long been recognised for their exceptional quality. Each bottle is labelled with the vineyard name, total production, and the growers responsible for that particular parcel.

Situated just outside the village of Barbaresco, the Pajè vineyard is renowned for its unique terroir. The south-facing slope, at an average altitude of 230 meters, benefits from the moderating influence of the Tanaro River, which helps to mitigate temperature extremes. The soil composition—calcareous marl rich in active limestone with sandy veins—contributes to the vineyard’s distinctive profile.

Wines from Pajè are celebrated for their balance of elegance and structure. They typically exhibit bright red fruit aromas, floral notes, and a pronounced minerality. The natural acidity and refined tannins lend themselves to wines that are both approachable in their youth and capable of graceful aging.

In exceptional vintages, Produttori del Barbaresco produces a single-vineyard Riserva from Pajè, showcasing the vineyard’s unique characteristics. The 2019 vintage, for instance, has been noted for its vibrant acidity and expressive aromatics, with critics highlighting its potential for long-term development.
