Tahbilk 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
Out Of The Vault Tahbilk 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
We love it when we uncover something special… and this week we’ve managed to get our hands on a small parcel of properly aged Tahbilk Cabernet Sauvignon 2015.
The 2015 vintage is a classic Nagambie Lakes Cabernet. Medium-bodied, structured and beautifully balanced, it opens with blackcurrant and cassis, layered with cedar, bay leaf and a gentle touch of tobacco. On the palate you’ll find rich black fruit, subtle eucalyptus and spice, all supported by fine, savoury tannins that have softened perfectly with age. The finish is long, earthy and composed. This is Cabernet at that sweet spot mature, expressive and ready to go. No cellaring required. Just pull the cork and enjoy.
These museum releases don’t come around often and when they do, it’s usually only a few cases. Established in 1860, Tahbilk is one of Australia’s most historic family owned wineries. The Purbrick family have been custodians of the estate since 1925, holding back select vintages and only releasing them when they believe they’re truly ready to drink. It’s old-school patience and it shows in the glass.
As always with these museum parcels, once it’s gone, it’s gone. We don’t expect this one to last
