Mystery Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
We love old school. Remember the days of good old fashioned Claret that aged for a decade or more, but also offered fantastic drinking in the early part of life?
The Yarra Valley had these type of wines in spades and it still does when you think of the marque iconic producers.
Good vintages from this 5 star James Halliday producer age for decades. Recently we had a bottle of the 2006 which at nineteen years of age looked like it could have gone on for another decade or more.
Unfortunately with the popularity of Cabernet Sauvignon dropping in Australia and the demand for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay unstoppable, the winery has made the decision to pull out these mature vintages and replant with Chardonnay. So the 2021 vintage will be one of the last vintages of this wine ever made.
We have managed to snag a good chunk of the '21 release and offer it today at half it's retail price. So for $10, you get a wine from one of the best Yarra Valley vintages in recent times that will also age for two decades. Pretty good buying for $10 a bottle!!!
